The Nobles decided that they no need for some Squires, so they rounded up 77 of them and gave them a "severance package". The surviving squires were told that they were sent away to find different kingdoms, but it is quite certain that "severance package" means they were taken to the basement, strapped to the Kingdom's sodomy chair, and then beheaded.
